Mowbray & Son, Inc and M & S Sheet Metal, Inc has an experienced support team to assist in all aspects of contract projects, services, human resources, and company information. Each member of our support team has an assigned area of responsibility working together for our customers, vendors, subcontractors, and field employees.

Our support team’s responsibilities include project correspondence, project purchasing, contract information and invoicing, service dispatch, invoicing and maintaining contract requirements, and human resources. Our loyal existing customers and any new customers can contact our support team for plumbing and/or HVAC service needs, scheduling preventative maintenance, or any other questions they may have.

Mowbray & Son, Inc and M & S Sheet Metal, Inc has an established service department to take care of all of our customers and any new residential, commercial, or industrial customer requiring plumbing, heating, ventilation or air conditioning repair, maintenance, or fixture/equipment replacement.

Our service department team includes experienced journeyman plumbers who are licensed with the state of North Dakota and experienced journeyman HVAC technicians who are licensed with the City of Minot. Team members are affiliated with either the Plumbers/Pipefitters Local #300 or the Sheet Metal Workers Local #10. In addition, the team works with the apprenticeship program for both trades.

Our service department for Plumbing/HVAC offers the following capabilities:

  • Available to work nights or weekends to service emergency needs of our customers.
  • Diagnose and repair of electronic, mechanical and electrical components of water/heating/cooling systems.
  • Diagnose diverse service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to manufacturer’s recommendations, and explain fully to customer what the issue is and what is needed to correct.
  • Document all installed equipment upon arrival, such as make, model, serial number, necessary test measurements, and pictures if necessary.
  • Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling units for industrial, commercial and residential customers.
  • Install, maintain, and repair plumbing fixtures, water heaters, boilers, and humidifiers for residential, commercial or industrial customers.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Provide customer with free estimate for repair or replacement.
  • Provide start-up and training services on equipment.
  • Set up and provide preventative maintenance agreements for equipment.
  • Travel to job sites in service areas and work with dispatch to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customer.

Mowbray & Son, Inc is also known under the name of M & S Sheet Metal, Inc. Our team under the Custom Sheet Metal Fabrication division has experienced journeyman sheet metal workers on staff and apprentices working through the sheet metal training program.

Our Custom Sheet Metal Fabrication team has the following capabilities:

  • Certification & Training in OSHA-10, First Aid, and CPR.
  • Check fabricated products for accuracy and completed necessary adjustments to ensure quality.
  • Design, bend, roll, and weld a wide range of metals to include galvanized, stainless steel, aluminum, black iron, copper, paint grip, and order specialty metals.
  • Educational programs and plumbing/pipefitter employee searches by Local #300.
  • Observe safety practices and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Operate machinery such as coil-line press brake, shears, spot welders and plasma cutting tables
  • Operated computer aided drafting (CAD) equipment to develop scale drawings of products or systems.
  • Specialty fabrication from kitchen prep tables, tread plate, to sheet metal repairs.
  • Specialty fabrication of galvanized ductwork.

Our team is registered with the Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program and has specialized safety training, certification, and on-site inspections by the North Dakota Safety Council.

Mowbray & Son, Inc is also known under the name of M & S Sheet Metal, Inc.  Our team under the HVAC fabricate and install division has several experienced journeyman sheet metal workers on staff and several apprentices working through the sheet metal training program.

Our HVAC team has the following capabilities:

  • Certification & Training in OSHA-10, First Aid, and CPR.
  • Educational programs and sheet metal employee searches by Sheet Metal Workers Local #10.
  • Fabricate various metal items including galvanized, black iron, and stainless steel.
  • Install or replace heating-ventilation-air conditioning equipment.
  • Installed ducts (HVAC).
  • Maneuver completed units into position for installation, and anchor the units.
  • Observe safety practices and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Operate electric scissor and boom lifts, forklifts, and duct/crank lifts.
  • Operate machinery such as coil-line press brake, shears, spot welders, and plasma cutting tables.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and/or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabrication, assembling, and installing products.
  • Solder and rivet sheet metal.
  • Work with cranes rigging HVAC materials.

Mowbray & Son, Inc’s plumbing/pipefitter division team has several experienced journeyman plumbers on staff, along with several apprentices working through the plumbing/pipefitter training program. The resident journeyman plumbers and apprentices are registered and licensed through the state of North Dakota. We are affiliated with Plumbers & Steamfitters Local #300 in Minot, ND.

Our team has the following capabilities:

  • Assemble pipe and systems, cut lengths of piping and utilize various methods of welding, grooved, fusion, soldering, brazing and adhesives to secure black steel, copper, plastic, HDPE, and PPR piping systems.
  • Certification & Training in OSHA-10, First Aid, and CPR.
  • Certified Back Flow Preventer Testing.
  • Certified Med Gas installer-brazers.
  • Certified Welders for Structural-Hot and Cold Piping.
  • Educational programs and plumbing/pipefitter employee searches by Local #300.
  • Ensured integrity of plumbing systems through various test methods.
  • Identify obstructions, plan plumbing design, layout for pipe fabrication and installation, through channeled openings in walls, ceilings, and floors.
  • Installation of hydronic heating & cooling, hot and cold supplies, waste, and drainage systems.
  • Installation of underground rough in to top out and finish phase of job from start to finish.
  • Interpret and apply mechanical and structural blueprints to plan plumbing repairs and modifications.
  • Observe safety practices and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment.

From commercial to industrial,new construction to building renovations, Mowbray & Son, Inc’s mechanical engineering team has the capabilities and experience to provide design/build mechanical engineering services in addition to estimating a pre-designed commercial or industrial building project.

Our engineering team specializes in plumbing, sheet metal, HVAC, hydronic heating/cooling systems and geothermal systems. We have experience working with $1,000 contracts to large full-scale multi-million dollar mechanical contracts. Our list of projects is extensive over our 100 year company history in Minot and surrounding areas. We have completed numerous projects at the Minot Air Force Base, ND Army National Guard, City of Minot, Ward County, Minot Public Schools, Minot State University, Trinity Health, and Dakota Square Mall.

In addition, we have completed out-of-state design-build renovation projects in Minnesota and South Dakota. Some of our many completed projects include the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, the Kittson County Courthouse, Polk County Courthouse, schools in Stephen/Argyle MN and Adrian, MN.
